Selected Visits to Australia
Prof Angang Hu and his PhD student visited from Tsinghua University from the 12th to the 20th of November 2014. During his visit Prof Hu gave a public seminar, hosted by the Asia Centre at the University of Melbourne, titled “China and the World”.
Chinese delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hohai University, Chinese Agricultural University and Tsinghua University visited from the 18th to the 23th August 2014.
Prof Bin Dong and his delegation visited from Wuhan University and Provincial Institute of Water Conservancy, Hydropower Survey and Design from the 1st to the 12th of July 2014.
Prof Zhiqiang Zhang from Nanjing University and Prof Genwei Cheng visited from the 20th to the 24th March 2014.
Prof Zhongjing Wang, Vice Dean of the School of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University and a delegation of 8 members from the Shule Basin Management Bureau, Danghe Basin Management Bureau and Tsinghua University visited the Australia China Joint Research Centre from the 7th to the 11th of March 2014.The purpose of the delegation’s visit was to further expose water managers from north-western China to Australia water productivity innovation.
Prof Bingfang Wu and Bojie Fu visited the Center in February 2014 to further develop existing collaboration.
Prof Bingfang Wu, head of Division of Digital Agriculture in the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the University of Melbourne from 30 September to 4 October.
Prof Zhonging Wang and 15 students from Tsinghua University visited the University of Melbourne to attend an International Course on River Basin Management, August 2013.
Prof Qi Feng visited the University of Melbourne in July 2013.
Prof Zhonging Wang, Vice Dean of School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University, Prof Huang Yuefei and Dr Lu Huafang from Tsinghua University and Dr Zhai Zihong, Chief Engineer of the Department of Water Resources, Gansu Province visited the University of Melbourne, June 2013.

Selected Visits to China
Prof Peter Scales, Dr Graham Hawke (Deputy Director, Environment and Research Division, Bureau of Meteorology) and Dr Yongping Wei visited Beijing, Chengdu and Xining, in July 2015, to discuss collaboration with the centre’s Chinese partners.
Prof Peter Scales had a study leave visit to Tsinghua University (TSU) from the 18th August to the 2nd of December, 2014. Prof Scales’ host during the visit was Professor Zhongjing Wang, Professor in Hydrology and Water Resources, Vice Dean of School of Civil Engineering, Department of Hydraulic Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, Tsinghua University.
Dr Dongryeol Ryu visited China from the 16th to 21st of November. He visited Prof Jiancheng Shi (Director of State Key Laboratory for Remote Sensing Science and Senior Research Scientist at RADI-CAS) to discuss about their new microwave satellite mission, named WCOM, scheduled to be launched in 2020 and delivered a seminar to the State Key Laboratory for Remote Sensing. He also visited Prof Hui Lu and gave a seminar at Tsinghua University.
Dr Yongping Wei and Prof Andrew Western visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences China from the 2nd to the 7th of November 2014. The visit included a field visit to Lanzhou-Qilian Mountain-Zhangye Oasis agriculture-Ejina terminal Lake-Alashan Downstream-Minqin Oasis agriculture-Lanzhou. It involves Heihe River and Shiyang River.
Dr David Lewis visited Beijing, China from the 26th of October to the 19th of November 2014. During his visit, Dr Lewis presented at the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society’s Conference and Worked in the Shiyang basin of Gansu province, looking at the pilot water trading scheme driven by Prof Wang Zhongjing and Dr Zheng Hang of Tsinghua University.
Prof Abbas Rajabifard and Dr Yongping Wei visit Beijing, China from the 18th to the 25th of October 2014. They visited Hohai University, the Engineering and Technology Research Centre of Flood and Drought Disaster Reduction, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University. A Memorandum of Understanding for joint PhD Degree between the Department of Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Melbourne and Department of Hydraulic Engineering at Tsinghua University was signed during the visit.
Dr Yongping Wei and Prof Andrew Western visited to Lanzhou, China from the 22nd to the 28th of June 2014 to attend a start-up workshop about a collaborative project in eco-hydrology in inland river basin funded by CAS (Chinese Academic Sciences).
Dr Suki Ooi visited China from the 15th to the 25th of June 2014. He visited Tsinghua University and experiment sites in Yumen, Shule.
Dr Scott Keyworth and Dr Lu Zhang from CSIRO visited Beijing from the 16th to the 21st of June 2014. They visited the World Bank, IWHR, the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Eart (RADI), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Dr Yongping Wei, Assoc Prof Erik Weyer and Dr Clive Lyle visited to China from the 21st of April to the 1st of May 2014. They visited Tsinghua University, the Shule River Basin and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Dr Suki Ooi visit to Tsinghua University and Shule River Basin in Gansu, China from the 26th of March to the 6th of April 2014. He visited Tsinghua University, the southern irrigation channels and the Chang Ma Dam in Gansu.
Prof Peter Scales visited China with the University of Melbourne DVC in March 2014.
Prof Peter Scales visited China from the 18th to the 28th of Oct 2013. During his visit, Prof Scales participated in several collaboration meetings at Tsinghua University World Bank and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Paul Jupp and Lu Zhang from CSIRO participated in a field trip to the Yellow River Basin to promote the Centre and plan joint research activities with Chinese partners. The trip was organised by the Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR) and was attended by the China Agricultural University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Rubicon China Office.
Dr David Lewis spent a week in Gansu during September 2013, as a consultant for Professor Wang Zhongjing's project that aims to facilitate water trading in river basins which are very short of water.

A 10-persons Australian delegation led by Professor Peter Scales launched the Australia China Research Centre on River Basin Management in Beijing and visited Tsinghua University, May 2013.
